The gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) plays an important role in digestion and absorption of nutrients, including the administration of medication. In particular, the intestine plays an essential role in the absorption of medication. Accordingly, a desirable outcome of a GI surgical procedure is to maintain the intestinal tissue in an unaffected condition.
One method of correcting GI tract disorders is to surgically attach various tissue types of the GI tract to a portion of the wall of the intestine. However, in order to achieve a successful outcome for the surgical procedure, a great deal of precision is necessary. More specifically, the proper tissues, such as the ileum and jejunum, must be surgically attached to the stomach wall in order for the individual to properly digest food and absorb medication. This procedure is known as an ileo-anastomosis.
Currently, there are two general types of procedures used to perform ileo-anastomosis. The first, also referred to as a “formal” anastomosis, is a suturing technique, usually involving continuous or interrupted sutures between the ileum and the jejunum, or between the ileum and the jejunum and the stomach. The second procedure is an “informal” anastomosis that is not sutured. Rather, it involves holding the tissue types in close approximation without any sutures, or with absorbable staples, to allow the tissue types to heal over time.
One problem associated with the surgical procedure is that the stapling procedure requires the creation of an opening in the GI tract. This opening must be large enough to allow the staple to properly perform its function of approximating and holding the tissue types. Disgruntled producer Raghu aka Raja (Shahrukh Khan) and his partner Bunny (Poonam) sets out to make a feel-good family entertainer after his fall out with Gopi (Ajay Devgn), a singer. Gopi has a funny-sounding way of singing. Enter Rishi (Ritesh Deshmukh), who along with his twin sister Supriya (Deepika Padukone) also falls for Gopi. Raja's daughter Sheetal (Sonam Kapoor) loves Gopi, while his son Krish (Ritesh Deshmukh) is in love with Gopi's estranged wife Kavita (Kavita Kapoor) and is also against his father's plans of making a film with Gopi.
